Low light demo

by Mark Rowe

Arecont Vision, the US manufacturer of IP-based megapixel cameras, has unveiled its new STELLAR (Spatio TEmporal Low Light ARchitecture) that increases low light performance to capture colour images in near total darkness. The company was demonstrating STELLAR in a darkroom in its IFSEC exhibit for visitors to have a first-hand look.

Dr Sri Rama Prasanna Pavani, VP of Engineering, Arecont Vision, said: “Arecont Vision continues to develop new technologies and products that provide unique solutions to address challenging security imaging applications. Our new STELLAR technology includes patent pending algorithms as well as sensor and optical improvements that enhance low light sensitivity and performance of megapixel cameras.”

STELLAR will initially be available in the company’s MegaDome 2 all-in-one megapixel cameras. Features include light sensitivity, spatio temporal noise reduction, adaptive contrast enhancement and motion blur reduction, and a low bit rate to conserve bandwidth and storage space, the makers say.
