Managed private cloud

by Mark Rowe

Beaming, a specialist business ISP, has launched ProtectNet Plus. It’s a managed private cloud network and internet connectivity service developed for multi-site security businesses, for secure voice and data communications between remote locations.

Developed with several security companies, CCTV monitoring firms and alarm receiving centres, ProtectNet Plus provides users with access to multiple business broadband and mobile network carriers via a single contract and the ability to switch between them in the event of a service failure, the firm says.

Should a company’s telephone lines be damaged, for instance, the internet service could be automatically re-routed across a secondary connection, such as the 4G mobile network, to ensure the security provider remains connected and premises protected.

Depending on the location and technologies chosen, Beaming says that it’s able to offer back-up connections of up to 1Gbps and guarantee overall service level uptime of 99.995 per cent. The same IP addresses are maintained in the event of a switch, ensuring that users remain connected without the need to reconfigure equipment.

Sonia Blizzard, managing director of Beaming, pictured, says: “Recent failures at big name ISPs are a timely reminder that no single provider can guarantee 100 per cent connectivity. Security providers told us they needed more robust connectivity and the ability to conduct business as usual in the event of an internet failure at their primary provider. ProtectNet Plus meets this challenge by offering seamless connectivity across a variety of wired and wireless data carriers to provide a backup as and when required. We’ve been trialling the service with a number of users for the last six months with zero downtime.” Visit http://www.beaming.biz/.
