The manufacturer of life safety systems, Hochiki Europe, has extended its FIREscape LED emergency lighting range with FIREscape lite. These are mains-powered, stand-alone, self-contained emergency lighting products, without the need for a control panel governed lighting system.
Available as a range of 12 pre-packed, off-the-shelf kits, the product features a โstep-downโ transformer, enabling the products to be mains powered, with either four types of luminaire or eight types of exit sign. The standalone lighting units can be placed anywhere within a building, as long as there is a mains lighting supply.
So that luminaires and exit signs continue to function in the event of a mains failure, the units have an integral battery which provides three hours of back-up power, in accordance with the recommendations of British Standard (BS) 5266. The battery is trickle-charged only when the internal diagnostics software senses a top up is required meaning the unit is always prepared for a mains power outage. The product also features a bi-coloured status LED on each unit to visually alert building managers to maintenance issues such as LED or battery faults.
