Shield conference

The Shield Group has run its inaugural Summer Security Conference at The Guildhall London.

Chaired by The Shield Group’s Commercial Director Stephen Hollings, speeches came from: Don Brown, Assistant Director for Salford City Council, Prof Martin Gill, Director of Perpetuity Research and Consultancy International and Trevor Dyson, Detective Chief Inspector at City of London Police Special Branch.

The conference also marked the launch of The Shield Group’s new website and company brochure. The Shield Group recognise dFabio Aurellio as the Security Site Manager of the Year. He was presented with an award by Tom King Operations Director.

Some 70 guests, from the City of London and corporate security, joined the security company.

Don Brown, Assistant Director for Salford City Council’s topic, Project Gulf – Partnership Intervention Toolkit, described how the council were using all government bodies to work together to crack down on organised crime. Project Gulf is a new police initiative designed to protect communities and cities across the UK from the threat of organised crime through intervention and interruption of the criminal community. This revolutionary initiative aims to co-ordinate the resources of the police, emergency services, local authorities other government bodies to disrupt the criminal activities of known gangs and families. Previously these gangs have been difficult to target and had a corrosive effect on the local community.

Prof Martin Gill, pictured, Director of Perpetuity Research and Consultancy International spoke on the subject of How Criminals Get Around Security. He shared stories and insights into criminal behaviour learnt first-hand from research with criminals in prison. He urged the audience to learn more about how criminals think.

Trevor Dyson, Detective Chief Inspector at City of London Police Special Branch gave the audience a Terrorism & Treat Update, as he updated guests with the various threat levels throughout the UK, such as from Ireland and Al Qaeda.

The conference also marked the launch of The Shield Group’s new website and company brochure. The Shield Group has introduced four strategic business verticals combining traditional man-power, a consultancy business, innovative technology and monitoring from their own CAT 2 Monitoring Centre.
