Warehouse guard robot

by Mark Rowe

EOS Innovation, a European startup company that makes mobile surveillance robots, unveiled its ‘e-vigilante’ robot at the IFSEC International show, in June.

The ‘e-vigilante’ robot is described as an intelligent and autonomous mobile surveillance robot. It’s aimed at warehouses and industrial sites, offering its makers claim security cost reductions, better use of human resources and better reactions to alerts.

‘E-vigilante’ has the makers say been designed to supplement human surveillance, operating with an off-site security agent, the robot detecting an alert or other incident. The robot can patrol randomly or follow a pre-programmed round, set up by man.

The product comes with a high-resolution surveillance camera with 360 degree pan, and can save and transmit audio and video data in real-time when an incident is detected. A human operator can take control of the robot remotely.

The robot has what the makers term ‘dissuasive tactics’, such as an alarm sound, flashing lights and voice control, can be used by the agent.

According to David Lemaitre, EOS Innovation CEO and founder: “There is tremendous global potential in the security robotics market at this moment. The ‘e-vigilante’ surveillance robot provides a unique, breakthrough solution to the security industry worldwide, which will create estimated savings of 30 per cent compared to traditional surveillance methods.”
