Cogent Distribution partners with RF elements

by Mark Rowe

Cogent Distribution reports that it’s expand its integrated portfolio of wireless and connectivity products with a partnership with Slovakia-based RF elements, the antenna manufacturer. As a stock-holding distributor offering specialist value-added services, Cogent Distribution will provide RF elements solutions to support resellers and system integrators across the UK and Ireland.

RF elements according to the companies solves the common problem of spectrum limitation caused by RF noise (radio frequency interference) – the biggest issue in outdoor wireless networking – through proprietary technology based on noise rejecting horn antennas, virtually lossless connectors, and systems scalability.

Jim Kernahan, Managing Director at Cogent Distribution said: “We are proud to be working closely with RF elements, who are great advocates for the sustainable use of spectrum, which is, of course, a limited resource serving everyone on this planet. The RF elements product portfolio is complementary to our existing network connectivity solutions. Plus, we’re helping to educate WISPs (wireless internet service providers) about the benefits of these next generation non-beamforming antennas.”

RF elements antennas only radiate signal in the direction you point them at and deliver the product company says performance in a high noise environment because of the lack of side lobes. Zero side lobes means that the antenna has a high beam efficiency and makes colocation simple, it’s claimed, for growing network throughput. In a WISP network for example, excellent performance means no side lobes, superb radiation efficiency, frequency stability of the radiation pattern, and sharp fall-off of radiation intensity, the firms add.

Herman Conradie, Business Development Manager EMEA for RF elements, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Cogent Distribution, who we feel have an in-depth understanding of our products and their capabilities and will no doubt be excellent ambassadors for our brand.”
