Integrated Systems

Video analytics at ST17 Glasgow

by Mark Rowe

New from Genie, the British manufacturer of IP video, CCTV and access control products is video analytics. The set-up is via the GUI (graphical user interface). After set up, the user can watch as the video intelligence takes action on their monitor. Users can have these intelligence features:

– Camera Mask
– Camera Scene Change
– Object Added or Removed from the location
– Intrusion Detection; and
– Line Crossing (A>B) (B>A) (A<>B)

These help to highlight the unusual from the ordinary, to aid reaction times and reporting of incidents to a response team or emergency services, the developers say. Steve Baker, Genie CEO says: “Our analytics offer users a more robust surveillance system. Users gain invaluable data that can be intelligently used to strengthen business operations, health and safety and people management. What’s more it comes as standard to all H.265 network IP video recorders, with no extra costs or licenses.”

The free video analytics is available on selected Genie WISH IP H.265 cameras and network video recorder (NVR) models; and supported by models purchased from July 1, 2017 onwards.

Genie will be showcasing their new video analytics software at the next edition of Security TWENTY, in Glasgow, at the Hilton in the city centre on Tuesday, September 5. The team will be doing a Q&A and offering live demos. The ST event like others in the series around the UK and Republic of Ireland is free to attend if you register online in advance. There’s mid-morning tea and coffee, a hot buffet lunch, and visitors first thing in the morning around 8.30am can enjoy a breakfast bacon bap – first come, first served!
