VMS for control rooms

by Mark Rowe

New from Tecton is a Video Management System (VMS). As the CCTV manufacturer says, its VMS is to allow a CCTV control room operator to manage from a PC alarms, access control and asset tagging products, and associate for example an alarm with a camera; rather than an operator having to switch between terminals. The software can display multiple HD (1920 x 1080p) and megapixel images in real time; and it can work with alarm and access control systems. The firm says it will continue to expand the interfaces to other equipment. The VMS synchronises terminals and monitors and logs what operators do, and lets them view live video, and replay it, and download as evidence. The user can display GIS maps or plans of cameras and other devices, and take control by location.

Separately the company recommends a firmware upgrade for its Servalan and Liberator (pictured) recorder-controllers, which allows more IP cameras to be used in native (not ONVIF) mode.
