IP offering

The distributor Norbain has announced that it is now distributing Samsung IP video surveillance products, including network video recorders (NVRs). Billy Hopkins, Norbain’s Samsung business development executive said: “We are very pleased to be able to offer our customers Samsung’s range of IP and network solutions, which includes megapixel and Full HD cameras, at a time when demand for Video over IP solutions is rapidly increasing.

“Samsung’s four channel SRN-470D and 16 channel SRN-1670D NVRs, which both utilise H.264 compression to minimise bandwidth requirements, are clearly going to be very popular among installers who have limited experience of commissioning IP network based recording solutions. Both models can be programmed and controlled by just the use of a plug-in mouse and as such offer familiarity with a DVR.”

Until recently, Samsung says that its strength has mainly been in the analogue market, but its R&D teams have been developing an IP range over the past three years in line with the industry trend towards IP based systems. As a result they now have IP devices from cameras to recorders, and can, they say, offer a one-stop-shop for most projects.

Tim Biddulph, IP Product Manager for Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd said: “We are looking forwarding to working with Norbain to ensure its customers can upgrade from an analogue system to an IP and network based solution in the smartest way. Our Smarter Security philosophy is based on giving sales professionals and technicians the confidence to recommend, design and install an IP network based video surveillance and products like the SRN-470D and SRN-1670D NVRs will certainly help installers as they go through the process of embracing what is exciting new technology.”
