Missile perimeter

by Mark Rowe

White Sands Missile Range is a United States Army facility of almost 3,200 square miles (8,300 km2) in southern New Mexico near Alamogordo. As the largest military installation in the US, White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) provides a site for testing and research, for the Army, Navy, Air Force, Department of Defense, and others. Current work include ground support for the Tracking and Data Relay Satellite (TDRS), communications satellites, and government and private projects, missile testing and recovery.

WSMR is in the Tularosa Basin, a valley between the Organ Mountains, San Andres Mountains and the Sacramento Mountains. The challenge was how to provide military grade perimeter protection over such a large, diverse terrain. An installer SD Technologies based in El Paso, Texas, looked to Vigilant Technology to provide the IP video management to protect assets.

Donald Davis, Project Manager for SD Technologies, said: “With many years of reliability and innovation, Vigilant was considered as the most network-centric solution. Vigilant’s Netview virtual matrix enables higher situational awareness among operators by displaying a wide range of information using an easy to view interface. This allows greater mission effectiveness with a more proactive focus on perimeter protection.” Visit vglnt.com
