VSaaS partnership

by Mark Rowe

The professional security division of Samsung Techwin and IProNet Sistemas have formed a technology partnership which will see the two companies collaborating in the development of an integrated solution, using Video Surveillance as a Service (VSaaS).

VSaaS is a video management system that works via the Cloud without the need of locally installed hardware or software. Camera installation is plug-and-play, which means that the camera automatically connects to the service, reducing costs and complexity. A user only needs a Samsung camera and an Internet connection.

The two firms’ partnership will allow the possibility of accessing video captured from any IPNP powered Samsung device being hosted in the Cloud application. This can be offered to corporate partners as a white branded service, enabling telecom companies besides traditional intruder alarm installers, suppliers and distributors, access to a new recurring business model with a value added service for the user. The companies say this alternative will affect processes of video monitoring not only for the industrial and business sectors, but for smaller enterprises and the general market. Users of the service could view the cameras’ feed in the Cloud through the web, smart phones, tablets and TV applications.

Through the expansion of “video services in the Cloud”, both companies will add to their ranges as VSaaS technology, based on the IProNet Video Internet Platform (VIP), will complement Samsung Techwin’s IP cameras. These cameras will be compatible with the IProNet IPNP (Plug and Play Technology).

Greg Nunez, Product Manager for Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd, said: “We are always striving to offer state of the art security solutions and an IP cloud solution for video monitoring is fully compatible with our Smart Security philosophy that looks to meet the current and future needs of our customers.”

And Brett Boswell, Director of Cloud Video Services at IproNet, said: “The Samsung Techwin cameras offer a complete feature set at an affordable price and this fits in well with the VsaaS business model promoted by IProNet. This agreement will allow for closer integration and generation of ground breaking features within a Cloud based service”.
