Hybrid intrusion system

by Mark Rowe

New from DSC, part of the Security Products business unit of Tyco, is PowerSeries Neo, pictured. It’s described as a new scalable commercial and residential line of products, and is on show at IFSEC 2014, on stand D1100 from June 17 to 19.

These products use PowerG wireless intrusion. Neo is described as a fully customizable system with a range of control panels and PowerG-enabled, wireless devices. At the core of the system are four control panels, ranging in capacity from 16 to 128 zones and two to eight partitions. Each panel starts with six or eight hardwired inputs, two to four hardwired outputs and PTSN communication, with the capability for expansion, adding features and services. The products offer a range of optional cellular and/or IP communication methods given the transition from traditional phone lines.

Using PowerG 2-way wireless communication, the products can hop between wireless frequency channels so that if one is jammed, it will move to a free frequency. This allows for seamless communication between the control panel and devices. The product allows for devices to continuously measure the communication quality and automatically sets transmission power to the minimum required for communication with the panel, saving energy and battery life. Solid encryption offers protection against digital attacks.

The PowerSeries Neo platform is also primed to reduce the incremental costs of false alarms by employing alarm verification such as visual verification, two-way audio and sequential detection, while also offering opportunities to dealers. WebSA, a user application that manages multiple systems, lets users manage, monitor and control the Neo security system through intuitive interfaces accessed with real-time dashboards.

PowerSeries Neo offers a variety of control panels, and compatible PowerG- enabled wireless devices to include a PIR motion detector with integrated camera, repeaters and glass break sensors and a line of expansion modules. Visit www.dsc.com.
