CPA Group provides compressed air and controlled air, a regulated industry that requires physical security and audits. The company wanted to protect sensitive areas, particularly shipping containers and site safes used to store equipment on sites. As engineers have to visit sites, a way to control who accessed areas and when was critical. CPA Group had been relying on traditional, mechanical keys, which were difficult to manage and control. Engineers might arrive on site without the correct key. Nor did keys offer a way to track access.
The firm saw a need for secure padlocks on steel containers at their customer’s sites, as these held equipment needed to carry out maintenance. CPA Group felt the risk of lost or misplaced keys posed a security threat, and wanted to eliminate this. The physical security product manufacturer Abloy UK provided its PROTEC2 CLIQ product, which, combined with an CLIQ External Wall PD, created electronic access control, which replaced the mechanical cylinders with CLIQ cylinders. This didn’t require a great deal of joinery work and created minimal disruption during installation.
PROTEC2 CLIQ can provide audit trails for keys used, offering the user visibility of who has access to specific areas or assets. A user can remotely delete lost or stolen keys and set time schedules for access.
