Storage cabinets

by Mark Rowe

The Steel Stor range of cabinets from Securikey, a UK supplier of physical security products, offers storage for the safekeeping of large bulky items such as Controlled Drugs (CD) in hospitals, examination papers and laptops in schools, or mobile phones, games and bags of change in retail stores. These also provide the temporary stores in short term building leases or outdoor festivals, where they can be anchored to generators using steel cables to provide security where no fixing is available.

Subjected to a severe FG burglary test and numerous attack tests, the Steel Stor range complies with the specification set out in Government regulations, such as the Misuse of Drugs (Safe Custody) Regulations 1973 which specifies correct storage for controlled drugs in hospitals. They also exceed Government firearms legislation, making them suitable for installation in police stations and prisons. These security cabinets are used in healthcare sites, as well as in schools, retail premises and in Government offices when fitted with the appropriate approved lock.

Featuring a 4mm steel body with three-way locking bolts and a VdS class 1 approved safe lock, the Steel Stor is also fitted with a continuous dog bar over the hinged side of the door and hardened plates to protect against attack. There are dual locking facilities available on five of the six models for added security.

The Steel Stor range also includes two types of deposit safe, which are built to the same high standards and are perfect for use in commercial environments where keys, cash and other valuables need to be deposited quickly and safely in a discreet location. The DR48 has a top loading rotary drum so it is easy to deposit valuables inside and the opening is sprung-returned so that the drum always remains closed. The SC60WDD model is also designed for the swift insertion of valuables and features a lockable front deposit drawer. In addition, the SC060 and SC100 cabinet models can be utilised as a part-deposit safe, as they incorporate an aperture that can be fitted with a front loading rotary deposit.

Steel Stor cabinets are supplied with ready prepared base fixing points and shelves, minimising installation time. Door boxes are also ready-installed, maximising storage capacity while ensuring small items remain easily accessible at all times. More shelves can be fitted as required.

The Steel Stor is supplied with a key lock as standard, but a total of seven electronic or wheel mechanical combination locking option alternatives are also available to cater for a variety of needs.
