A "self-help" guide to managing the internet at work
has been launched.

A "self-help" guide to managing the Internet at work
has been launched by Websense, an employee
internet management (EIM) software company. The practical step-by-step guide provides advice for anyone who needs to manage, advise, set, implement or follow Internet-use guidelines in the workplace, the writers say.

The guide
</strong><br><br>
Entitled "Employee Internet Management: Encouraging best practice for Internet behaviour in the workplace", provides an overview of the key steps that businesses need to follow in order to achieve effective EIM. There are also individual sections that cover advice and action plans for Human Resources, IT and Legal professionals as well as the employee.

The book was developed following the results of a Web@Work survey by Taylor Nelson Sofres. The survey, commissioned by Websense, showed that less than half of European organisations manage the internet in the workplace despite growing awareness that ‘cyber-slacking’ is costing companies billions in lost productivity.

Geoff Haggart, vice president for Europe at Websense, says: "The internet has invaded our working lives, both positively and negatively. What is needed is a framework that encourages corporate confidence and
supports the individual in the workplace. I believe this book could become the must-have manual to help organisations successfully manage employee use of the internet."
