Brief:
Terrornomics is the snappy title for a new book.
As it suggests, terrorism is partly about economics – terrorists need funding, often from frauds and other crimes, while the authorities seek economic ways such as anti-money laundering rules to cut off the cash from terror groups. A dozen American writers cover the topics, which include the role of the internet; suicide attackers; and small arms. The publishers say that the book’s aimed at graduate and undergraduates taking studies to do with terrorism, which is about right – it’s by and for scholars.
