The Lord Mayor of Newcastle officially welcomed Axis Security, the manned guarding contractor, to Newcastle at the opening of its new regional operations centre.
Axis, London-based and providing security for a number of financial institutions and professional firms in the South, looks to expand its operations nationwide by opening a new office in Union Street.
The Lord Mayor, Councillor Michael Cookson, said: โIt is a great pleasure to welcome a new company to the city and the prospect of future jobs in a very difficult time.โ
The firm has regional branches in Hounslow, Manchester, Rotherham, Bristol, Birmingham, Livingstone and Belfast, and is now looking to replicate this model in the North East, where its clients already include Rolls Royce, Komatsu, and various parts of the NHS.
David Riley, Commercial Manager for the region says that the company has a sound platform on which to build: โA new office in Newcastle at the very heart of the North East sends a clear signal to our customers and potential customers that we are serious about their business, and serious about providing the level of local support they need to deliver a first class
service.โ
David confirms that up to 35 jobs could be created in the first year as the company seeks to recruit new licensed security officers, and that this figure might treble over the next two to three years: โWe have grown by more than 100pc over the last 12 months and much of that has been achieved organically,โ he says. โWe have similarly ambitious targets for this year.โ
