RF card readers

by Mark Rowe

Suprema, a biometrics product company, has launched its XPass D2 series RF card readers. This is an addition to CoreStation, the company’s enterprise access control product.

XPass D2 readers are compact outdoor-ready RFID readers featuring dual-frequency RFID (radio frequency identification), to work with the company’s CoreStation-based central access control systems. XPass D2 readers come with dual-frequency RFID which reads both 128kHz and 13.56MHz RF cards including EM, MIFARE(plus), DESFire(EV1) and FeliCa standards. All readers read BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) and NFC signals to provide a mobile credential when using Suprema’s BioStar Mobile Card.

XPass D2 readers come in three models to meet various requirements and install needs. XPD2-MDB features a mullion-type structure; a GKDB model comes with 3 x 4 keypads to support PIN authentication. All the readers feature IP67 weather-proof and IK08 vandal-proof certifications. The readers have operating temperatures between minus 30 degrees and 65 degrees C.

Young S Moon, CEO at Suprema, said: “With the new addition of XPass D2 readers to CoreStation, Suprema’s ACU-based access control solution, we aim to provide new enterprise-grade features and added flexibility in system design. CoreStation is a clear alternative to the enterprises requiring higher level of biometric security and centralized access control system topology.”

Earlier this month, Suprema showcased XPass D2 readers at the ISC West 2018 exhibition in Las Vegas. They will be available for shipment from May 2018. Visit www.supremainc.com.
