Fire door retainer partner

by Mark Rowe

Evolution, the Buckinghamshire-based fire and security systems installer, has entered into a partnership agreement with Fireco, the manufacturer of wireless fire door retainers. The installation company is to supply and install Fireco’s Pro range, including Freedor Pro and Dorgard Pro.

Freedor Pro is a free swing door closer, which takes the weight out of heavy fire doors, the product company says. Dorgard Pro holds open fire doors safely and legally, allowing free movement through a building. When the fire alarm is triggered, the doors close to stop the spread of smoke and fire.

The Pro range includes the Fireco transmitter which is connected to the fire panel. When the alarm panel is activated, the transmitter communicates wirelessly with all Pro range products (up to 500 devices). When a Freedor or Dorgard Pro receives the signal, it releases, and the fire door closes normally.

Compliant with relevant fire safety standards, the Pro range is the makers say a solution for new builds and can be retro-fitted in existing or listed buildings and premises that require critical actuation (Category A).

Nigel Hyson, Fire Sales Manager for Evolution, says: “Being wireless means not having to run any cables, making it ideal for more complex or challenging sites or where aesthetics is an issue. The reliability of the product is also key to protecting people, property and assets, but also to support an organisation with its compliance regime.”

James Wheeler, Chief Commercial Officer of Fireco, adds: “Having supplied products to Evolution for the past 15 years across multiple manufacturers, I am really proud to have Evolution as a preferred installation partner of Fireco. As a manufacturer, I have peace of mind that the quality of our product and brand will be protected through skilled installation, service and maintenance.”
