Explosive Courses

by msecadm4921

A Wiltshire school for security, search and explosives training is offering day-long courses on suspected “Improvised Explosive Devices” (IED).

IEDs are normally explosive devices or bombs fashioned by terrorists out of household products.

The courses, previously only available as components of military or police training, are being run by the International School for Security and Explosives Education (ISSEE) at Chilmark, formerly the home of RAF Chilmark.

Prof Alan Hatcher, the Managing Director of ISSEE, a former Army and RAF man, believes that too little is being done to train personnel at every level in identifying potential threats and hazards, including improvised explosive devices.

What they say

He says: "Each and every one of us now has a duty of care when we go about our business. We are trained in almost everything but not in how to recognise suspect packages."

The first day-long course in Chilmark on October 18 has been tailored for military, police, and senior security staff. Students attending the course will need to undergo a security check beforehand. Those attending will be introduced to the principles of terrorist and criminal bombs and other explosive devices and how to react.

Contact the Uschooly on 01722 717979 or e-mail [email protected].  Other courses will run in November and December according to demand.
