Streamlining SIA

by msecadm4921

The SIA reports that it is streamlining the licence application process.

From October 1, the identity documents that the Security Industry Authority (SIA) can accept will change. This follows widespread concern about identity fraud and will also streamline the licence application process, according to the authority.

From 1st October, the SIA will only accept:

Two identity documents from the revised group A list. At least one document must show the applicant’s current address and at least one document must show the applicant’s date of birth. Or:

One identity document from the revised group A list and two documents from the revised group B list. At least one document must show the applicant’s current address and at least one document must show the applicant’s date of birth.

From this date, identity documents will be returned by the SIA to applicants by courier free of charge.

The revised list of identity documents are:

Group A documents

Signed valid passport of any nationality

Signed UK photo driving licence (both parts of the full or provisional licence are required)

Valid UK firearms licence with photo

HM Forces ID card (UK)

UK birth certificate or certified copy issued within 12 months of birth, but not a photocopy

UK adoption certificate

If the photographic group A document was previously sent to the SIA for a licence application that was successful, no documents need to sent unless applicant name or address have changed. If an applicant’s name has changed a fresh complete set of identity documents will need to be submitted. If the applicant’s address has changed, one group B document showing the new address is required.

Group B documents
