Manors ANPR

by msecadm4921

Hanbury Manor, a Marriott Hotel and Country Club centred on a Jacobean house and set in 200 acres of countryside near Ware, Hertfordshire sought ANPR but was initially disillusioned.

Quantumatic Cambridge was contracted by Hanbury Manor to install and maintain all the security systems at the hotel. Hanbury Manor looked to automatic number plate recognition to record vehicles entering and leaving the facility. They wanted a database with a ‘white list’ for staff, visitors and VIPs and a black list for vehicles on their security watch-list.

After the aggravation of installing two ANPR systems that did not work to the customer’s expectations Quantumatic found CitySync who loaned a system for a short evaluation.
Charlie Lee, Senior Engineer at Quantumatic said: ‘We have tested five ANPR systems in total and they all have a common problem with accuracy – except CitySync ANPR software. We are impressed with the consistent high accuracy of the system. We will continue to use the ANPR system from CitySync.’

Desna Fielding, sales VP at CitySync said: “Sadly this experience is more common than many people realise and we swap out a lot of failed systems. ANPR is not just a ‘video analytic’ but a very demanding technology. Users are very quick to spot failings. Buying a cheap ANPR system is a false economy as it fundamentally undermines security as well as an integrators relationship with the user.”
