SfS Conferences

by msecadm4921

This year’s Skills for Security conferences are entitled ‘Time to Change Gear’.

Organisers report that in a change to the usual format, they are designed to make the audience think about and debate current issues rather than listen to a series of presentations.

Speakers are being encouraged to be controversial and challenging and, in a change to past events, the afternoon of the Oxford conference will be devoted to a live debate between industry notables and end users. Following the exchange of views, the audience will be invited to question the debaters and contribute their own opinions.

Baroness Henig, Chairman of the SIA; Prof Martin Gill Director of Perpetuity; Mike Wilson, Chief Executive of the SIA; Linda Holbeche of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development; Bill Muskin of VSG; Jane McKenna of Chubb; David Dickinson of BSIA and Stuart Lowden of Wilson James are among the personalities contributing to one or more of the conferences.

Supported by City & Guilds, the conferences, are taking place on November 4 at the Williams F1 Conference Centre, Oxford and on November 11 at the La Mon Hotel, outside Belfast.

The skills and standards setting body is offering a discount for early booking. Take advantage of the early bird discount offer available until August 29 and save £20 per delegate. Book your place via the website.

David Greer, Chief Executive at Skills for Security said: "These are going to be really worthwhile and thought-provoking events – come along to listen, learn, be entertained and have your say. Don’t forget that we are also taking entries for the Skills for Security ‘Annual Contribution to Skills development and Training’ award sponsored by NOCN. Entry forms and advice on applying are available on the website."
