Cyber champion

by Mark Rowe

In support of the Cyber Security Programme by the product manufacturer Tyco Security Products, David Harrison-Brown has earned the role as Cyber Security Champion within the UK and Ireland team.

The firm reports that David is well known for his passion and capability for supporting end-users, systems designers, installers and systems integrators and for helping to educate them on the risk of IP network-based security systems being targeted by hackers.

Alan Riegler, UK and Ireland Sales Director, said: “IP technology is here. It has incredible potential to generate new revenue streams for the security sector and deliver real-life practical benefits to end-users, but it has to be utilised responsibly and professionally. Much has been made recently of cheap IP products, especially video surveillance cameras and recording devices, flooding the market. They have attractive price tags and not surprisingly, they are tempting installers, electricians and pretty much anybody else who wants to try their hand at installing video surveillance, but at what cost to the end-user? Some of the articles you may have read recently in mainstream newspapers and other media channels about hacking, are just the tip of the iceberg. Our team has a responsibility to ensure that the people we talk with understand the risks of working with product and solutions that are not cyber-secure.”
