Security Systems Engineer
Location: Chicago, IL (Chicago-based, covering company sites)
Type: Full-time
Salary: $90,000 – $115,000 + bonus and benefits

The Role
A hands-on engineering role within the corporate security function. You’ll install, commission, maintain and improve the integrated electronic security systems that protect the company’s offices and critical facilities. You’ll be the go-to technical expert for access control, CCTV, intrusion and intercom systems, working closely with IT, facilities and third-party integrators.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, administer and maintain security systems, including access control, CCTV/VMS (analog and IP), intrusion detection, intercom and associated peripherals.
- Carry out preventive maintenance and respond quickly to faults to keep downtime to a minimum.
- Manage third-party integrators and service providers, including scoping work, overseeing installs and holding them to SLAs.
- Support new projects, office fit-outs and system upgrades from design review to handover.
- Work with IT on network, server and cybersecurity requirements for security devices.
- Support audit and compliance activity (e.g. SOC 2) with accurate documentation, access reviews and reporting.
- Keep accurate records of installation, service activity, assets and system configurations.
- Join an out-of-hours on-call rota when required.
- Follow all health, safety and compliance standards.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with enterprise electronic security systems.
- Manufacturer certifications on one or more platforms (e.g. Lenel, C•CURE/Victor, Pro-Watch, Honeywell, Kantech, American Dynamics, Genetec, Milestone or equivalent).
- Working knowledge of IP networking for security devices (VLANs, PoE, IP addressing).
- Methodical fault-finding across integrated security systems.
- Able to work at height using lifts and ladders, and to lift up to 80 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record, and willing to travel to other sites, including overnight, when required.
- High school diploma or equivalent. Comfortable with MS Office and hand/power tools.
- Confident communicator with stakeholders, vendors and end users. Organized and able to manage several priorities on your own.
- Desirable: experience in corporate, data center or other critical environments.
