Role: Fire Alarm Engineer
Location: London
Salary: £40,000 to £45,000 per annum
Are you a Fire Alarm Engineer looking for a site-based role in South London? As a Site-Based Fire Alarm Engineer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, testing, fault-finding and repair of fire alarm systems, ensuring full compliance with BS5839 and HTM 05-03 standards. You will be working for a specialist facilities and compliance provider delivering critical services within live healthcare environments.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on fire alarm systems and associated equipment across both hospital estates
- Assist with weekly fire alarm testing
- Respond to reactive maintenance requests, diagnose faults, and restore systems efficiently to minimise disruption
- Conduct routine inspections and statutory testing in line with hospital safety protocols
- Provide technical support and system expertise to estates staff and contractors
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and compliance documentation
- Support upgrade projects, system modification,s and small works when required
- Adhere strictly to health & safety legislation and hospital policies within a live healthcare environment
Experience and Certifications Required:
- A proven background as a Fire Alarm Engineer, ideally within large or complex sites (hospitals, universities or commercial estates)
- Formal Gent training certification with the ability to service, programme, and maintain Gent systems
- Sound knowledge of BS5839 and relevant fire safety regulations
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Full UK Driving Licence
- FIA Level 3 (or equivalent) in Fire Detection and Alarm Systems is advantageous (training can be provided)
- Gent Winmag training and experience are beneficial
- Experience working within healthcare or other critical environments is desirable
