Physical Security Consultant – Mission-Critical Datacentres
Salary up to £72,500.00 basic.

Our client is an independent consultancy specialising in security and telecoms infrastructure for mission-critical datacentres and power assets across Europe. They’re looking for a Physical Security Consultant to join their London-based team and lead physical security design on some of the sector’s most demanding projects.
Position Overview
As a Physical Security Consultant, you’ll take full ownership of physical security design across live datacentre projects, working through all RIBA stages from initial concept to final handover. You’ll define security requirements, develop detailed designs and specifications, and see your work built on some of Europe’s largest hyperscale and mission-critical projects. Working client-side, you’ll maintain complete independence while collaborating with owners, developers, hyperscalers and lead design consultants.
Responsibilities

Lead physical security design on datacentre projects through RIBA stages to handover
-
Develop detailed designs, reports, specifications, budgets and equipment schedules
-
Establish project security requirements and operational needs with clients
-
Determine camera coverage, field of view and lens selection
-
Define spatial, power, cooling, containment and cable-routing requirements
-
Produce layout drawings and markups for CAD technicians
-
Develop guidelines, recommendations and bills of quantities
-
Review operational, support and maintenance practices
-
Assess cross-site networking and communications integration
-
Apply relevant technical, industry and regulatory standards
-
Attend client design workshops, presales and tender interviews
-
Support commissioning management, witness testing, snagging and handover

Track and report man-hours accurately

Travel to sites across UK, Europe and occasionally wider EMEA for surveys

Support Technical Director in maintaining technical standards and growing client relationships
Requirements
Essential:
-
Strong grounding in physical security systems design across the full electronic security stack, including VSS/CCTV, video analytics, access control, IDS/PIDS, IP intercoms, control rooms and PSIM

Experience in electronic security design and engineering, delivering build and fit-out projects
-
Working knowledge of IT and networking supporting physical security installations
-
Confident reading architectural plans, layouts, elevations and schematics, including cable, containment and connection drawings
-
Understanding of supporting power, cooling and containment systems
-
Good grasp of RIBA framework, design and construction processes through to completion
-
Proficiency in CCTV bandwidth/storage calculators and design tools like Bluebeam and Visio
-
High IT literacy, including MS Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro
-
Strong communication skills and confidence in client engagements
-
Ability to manage multiple projects to deadlines
-
Rigorous attention to detail
-
Experience conducting site surveys and inspections
Desirable:
-
Knowledge of counter-terrorism design, Secured by Design practices and CPTED principles

Datacentre or mission-critical/high-availability project experience
-
Degree-level education and/or ASIS PSP, CPP or CSMP certification
-
AutoCAD and CCTV JVSG software experience
-
Experience in high-volume, fast-paced project environments

Familiarity with online resource management tools
