Site-Based Fire Alarm Engineer | £35,000-£42,000 | South London
This permanent dual-site position involves maintaining, testing, fault-finding, and repairing fire alarm systems within hospital estates. You’ll work closely with estates teams to ensure systems remain safe, compliant, and fully operational in line with BS5839, HTM guidance, and internal protocols. The role requires strong technical capability and confidence working in live healthcare settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance across both hospital locations.
- Support weekly fire alarm testing duties.
- Respond promptly to reactive maintenance tasks and resolve faults efficiently.
- Conduct inspections, system checks, and maintain accurate compliance documentation.
- Provide technical support to estates staff, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Coordinate works safely within live hospital environment.
- Assist with upgrades, modifications, and small works when required.
- Follow all relevant fire safety, hospital policies, and industry standards.
Essential Requirements
- Proven Fire Alarm Engineer experience on large or complex sites.
- Formal Gent training with the ability to service and program Gent systems.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capability.
- Good understanding of BS5839 and other relevant fire safety standards.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience with Gent Winmag or other graphical management systems.
- Previous experience working in healthcare or other critical environments.
- Additional multi-system or manufacturer training.
