Role: Sprinkler Design Engineer
Location: Essex
Salary: £45,000 to £60,000 per annum
We are seeking a skilled Sprinkler Design Engineer responsible for the hydraulic and layout design of water-based fire protection systems in commercial environments. The role ensures compliance with LPCB standards, client specifications, and industry best practice.
Responsibilities:

Produce detailed sprinkler system designs, including hydraulic calculations, material take-offs, and layout drawings

Manage designs across tender, construction, and as-built phases

Liaise with project managers, clients, and regulatory authorities for design approvals

Generate design documentation compliant with BS EN 12845, BS9251 (where relevant), and LPCB LPS 1048

Support installation and commissioning teams with technical guidance and queries

Identify opportunities for value engineering and standardisation within design
Experience and Certifications Required:

LPCB Competent Person (Design) certificate – essential

Strong experience designing commercial sprinkler systems using Canute or Hyena software

Proficient in AutoCAD or Revit
-
Detailed understanding of pipe sizing, hydraulic calculations, and pump set design

Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in sprinkler system design

Knowledge of water supply arrangements and tank sizing principles
