Institute adds directors

by Mark Rowe

The Security Institute, the membership body for security professionals, appointed Lisa Sharkey and Nick Hymans CSyP as Directors of the Main Board with effect from November 4.

Lisa Sharkey is a partner of Popplestone Allen Solicitors, specialising in licensing and entertainment law. Lisa has particular interest in security (and regulation) due to her professional involvement with the leisure industry, particularly the complex matters surrounding late-night licensing. She will be responsible for legal, governance and risk for the board.

“I am delighted to have been appointed to join the Board and very much look forward to working with my fellow Directors to help the Institute grow from strength to strength and to support it in its goal to achieve Chartered status.”

Nick Hymans works for the security services department at Credit Suisse in London. He has worked with the risk consultancy Control Risks, ArmorGroup and Group 4Falck after a successful career in the Army. He is involved in resettlement of military leavers, and with his overseas experience, will provide useful support to the institute’s international development. He will be responsible for the Register of Chartered Security Professionals; earlier this year he became a Chartered Security Professional (CSyP).

Nick Hymans said: “I am very much looking forward to working closely with the other members of the board and fellow CSyPs to try and place the CSyP qualification into a defined, attainable and easily understandable career path for current and future Security Professionals.”

And Security Institute Chairman Emma Shaw said: “I am delighted to welcome our directors to the Security Institute board. They bring with them a wealth of experience which will bring benefits to all members.”
