The total number of Security Industry Authority approved contractors is 317, entering 2007.

Among security guarding companies recently approved: Alliance Integrated Management Services, of Glasgow; Andron Contract Services, of Aberdeen; Armour Security Services (London); Bosh Security, of London SW19; Double Check Security, of London E17; Group Response, of Selby; Guard Security Services, of Birmingham; Guardsmark Security, of Solihull; Knight Security Services (UK), of Derby; Mitie Managed Services, of Chorley, Lancashire; Profile (Middx), of Hayes; Safe-Sec Guarding, of Burton-on-Trent; Templewood Security Services, of London EC2M; Total! Security Wardens, of Liverpool; Visual Security Services, of Kidderminster; and Warrior Security Services, of Widnes.

Approved in guarding and cash in transit are Contract Security Services, of London W3.

Approved in guarding and key-holding, Ibwest Security Services, of Grimsby; JMT Securities, of West Midlands; Nationwide Security, of St Albans; Safeguard Security Services Northern, of Consett; Security 2000, of Bristol; Shield Security Services (Yorkshire), of Hull.

Approved in guarding and door supervision are Sound Sec Security, of Fulham. Approved in guarding, door supervision and CCTV surveillance are Operon, of Harrogate.

And approved in guarding, door supervision and key-holding are BKS Security Services, of Dorset.

The SIA points out that Section 16 of the Private Security Industry Act 2001 makes it an offence for a company to claim it is an Approved Contractor when it is not; this includes indirectly claiming to be an Approved Contractor by displaying the ACS accreditation mark.
