A general trend in CCTV is the continued convergence conventional CCTV technologies with IT networks, report manufacturer Dallmeier. Thus the development of new compression techniques for rapid, quality network image transmission is becoming more important. The company?s new product range reflects the demands of a total network solution. An open architecture with a modular building block construction provide a basis for meeting the fast increasing demands of the network transmission of digital recordings. PView II is new software for central control of recorders. t supports searches for recorded images as well as sending live images from one or more cameras. Besides this, users can log on to several systems at once without losing functions such as alarm switch-on, backup or image processing. PView II can be used to control up to 18 cameras per recorder. Each screen can be switched to full screen mode at the double-click of the mouse and a multi-screen option provides a choice of display modes. The new MCD 20 Multi Control Display offers a flexible multiple screen display for observing up to 20 scenes at once. The screen layout is freely configurable and can be chosen to suit from a range of grid patterns. PRemote provides live image transmission with simultaneous remote recorder configuration using LAN/WAN (local area- wide area networks) and ISDN. In an application in South Africa (pictured) PRemote is installed with digital recorders on board ships which travel along the coast. Using an existing satellite link, control centre staff on the mainland can control and configure the system. Managers on shore can watch events at sea in real time.
