Digital Identity

by msecadm4921

Consult Hyperion, IT management consultants, report that the two lead sponsors of the fifth annual Digital Identity Forum will be Thales e-Security and EDS. They will be supported this year by Betrusted, CoreStreet and SiVenture.

The theme of this year’s forum, on November 10 and 11 at Le Meridien Piccadilly Hotel, London, is "Moving Digital ID to Population Scale". It will address, the organisers say, the fact that the world of digital identity is in transition from the era of trials and pilots, to the era of local and national roll-out.

What they say

Dave Birch, Director of Consult Hyperion, says: “We are delighted to have representatives from such a wide range of organisations taking part in the forum, including ATOS Origin, the City of Sunderland Council, Manchester City Football Club, Microsoft, and Vodafone. The calibre of this year’s speakers and panellists will again make for a highly informative and interesting event. It will be an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of opinions and perspectives on the theme of digital identity.” The event will bring together presentations and expert panels, with representatives from a wide range of public and private sector bodies, say organisers. One of the event’s keynote speakers will be Kevin Warwick, Professor of Cybernetics at Reading University, who shocked the international scientific community by having an RFID chip surgically implanted in his left arm. Following this initial surgery, further implant experiments were conducted, linking his nervous system to a computer. This year’s event will be based around four main themes; national and international identity, corporate and federated identity, local and community identity, and personal authentication. The forum will consider what has been learned so far in the world of digital identity, and will examine how the enabling technologies such as smart cards, biometrics, and digital certificates will work in large-scale deployment.
