Ultra Electronics Card Systems has introducted two new Magicard ID card printer products to join its Rio family. The Prima is a high definition, reverse transfer, dye sublimation duplex printer which prints onto a transparent receiver film which is then laminated onto a CR80 card. The reverse transfer process ensures that images are protected by the presence of the carrier film, and also allows a variety of card materials including PVC, PET, ABS and PVH to be used, the manufacturers report. Every card can feature a different image. The Magicard Prima, pictured, is available with a range of encoding options, and complements the magicard Rio and Tango for upscale applications. Also new is the magicard Sicura laminator, which replaces the UltraShield in the Ultra product range. The Sicura can be used with the Rio or the Tango as an in-line laminating station, but can also be used in a stand-alone mode where a quality control step is used between printing and laminating operations. A range of polyester overlaminate films are available, including those incorporating custom ?hologram? logos, and a type to laminate previously issued overcoated cards.
