The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) has announced that Rapiscan Systems Limited UK has been appointed Official Security Equipment and Systems Supplier for London 2012, becoming a tier three sponsor as part of the deal – LOCOG’s 38th domestic sponsor.
Under the agreement, Rapiscan Systems will provide over 2000 vehicle screening, people screening and baggage and parcel inspection systems to all Olympic venues, including the Olympic Village and events throughout London and the UK.
The systems will be used to provide security and threat detection capabilities to safeguard athletes, visitors, employees and other workers at the Games.
LOCOG Commercial Director Chris Townsend said: ‘Keeping athletes, spectators and everyone involved safe at the Games is a vital part of our role and to do that we need a significant amount of equipment and expertise, which Rapiscan Systems will provide.
