IAATI Conference

The 2009 IAATI Vehicle Crime Conference runs on May 20 and 21 at Stoneleigh Exhibition Centre, Stoneleigh Road, Coventry CV8 2LZ.

The United Kingdom branch of the International Association of Auto Theft Investigators (IAATI) is partnering with trusted organisations who are service providers in intelligence, enforcement, prevention and disruption activities. IAATI aims to make the work of the vehicle criminal harder and, ultimately, deny them the use of the road.

IAATI UK Membership is made up of officers from law enforcement agencies, Motor Vehicle manufacturers, Car Insurance companies, Government officials and Private Investigators involved and interested in reducing vehicle crime, increasing vehicle crime detections and detecting car thieves.

IAATI UK hosts the National Vehicle Crime Conference, a two-day event attracting senior practitioners, opinion formers and a cross section of key players from the motorcycle, road haulage, leisure, salvage, insurance and motor manufacturing industries. The conference offers an opportunity to network and exchange views.

Speakers invited include, on day one, UK association patron Lord Mackenzie of Framwellgate; IAATI President and former Met man Dr Ken German; on security Issues at Liverpool FC, Phil Neal the former Liverpool and England footballer; giving a media perspective, broadcaster Quentin Wilson; on GPS forensics and vehicle crime Prof David Last; Chief Insp John Hollands of the Metropolitan Police; and Shaun Painting of The Cotswold Group on staged accidents; and, spekaing on Trojan vehicles, DCC Adam Briggs of North Yorkshire Police.

Givign an AA perspective on Vehicle Crime Edmund King, President of the AA.

Topics include on day two: HGVs in Vehicle Theft by Stuart Bryne of Eurowatch; and Insurance Fraud Bureau by Susan Jones of the IFB. A vehicle hire industry perspective will be offered by Graham Sterry of Europcar / Vanguard Car. Kevin Howells of Datatag will give an update on the CESAR scheme .
