Gateshead Council required CCTV for the Quayside development in keeping with a project with such impressive structures as the Gateshead Millennium Bridge and the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art. The council?s development and enterprise team invited Darwen-based manufacturer WEC Group to produce an eight-metre stainless steel CCTV column. The column had to include two doors and an eight-point stainless steel set of locks to house the CCTV and telecoms equipment. After several meetings and a sample structure made for the council to approve within 21 days of initial talks, WEC were given the order to make a further seven structures for the project. Steve Reece, General Sales Manager, WEC CCTV Division, said: ?With the support of the council and installation company Barrier Surveillance, we were able to design a structure that blends in with the dynamic and modern environment of the Quayside.?
