Exhibitors have been showcasing their products at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) to highlight the British security industry.
The exhibition ran until 20 May showing visitors to the BIS building UK products including respirators, body armour, detection equipment and covert video surveillance equipment.
The UK security industry comprises over 8,000 companies and employs 140,000 people. The global security market is expanding at an annual rate of around five per cent.
Business Minister Mark Prisk said: “The UK is one of the world leaders in the security sector, and this is demonstrated by our thriving industry, which is constantly pushing the boundaries, and developing innovative technologies.
“It is important we provide the right conditions to allow this industry to continue to succeed in a global market and we must look at ways of increasing UK exports.
“I am extremely grateful to ADS in helping to organise the exhibition, and to all the companies who have contributed exhibits to this event.”
The exhibition is one of a rolling programme of themed displays demonstrating British design, engineering and manufacturing.

Avon Protection
Avon Protection is a manufacturer of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear respiratory protection equipment. Avon has supplied respirators to the Ministry of Defence and Nato allies for more than 80 years, and is the sole supplier of military respirators to the US armed forces.
Jack Ellis Body Protection
Jack Ellis Body Protection specialise in making body armour for the police, military, media, government and commercial security markets and have also produced an armoured tweed waistcoat, on display in the exhibition.
Robosynthesis
This London-based company have spent six years developing their patented robot system – a single core module around which many different robots can be built, for military and policing requirements.
Selectamark
Selectamark specialise in the permanent marking and asset identification of property and is recommended by the police and insurance companies. Its DNA marking system, SelectaDNA, uses synthetic DNA to uniquely identify items of value and is used by UK police forces.
Smiths Detection
Smiths Detection is a manufacturer of advanced security sensors and screening technology for use at airports, ports and passenger terminals worldwide. Its trace detection and x-ray screening equipment can detect explosives, weapons and illegal items on hand baggage or on passengers themselves.
Sonic Communications
Sonic Communications specialises in the design and manufacture of fixed and vehicle covert video surveillance equipment for law enforcers, government departments and military units.
Steatite
Steatite is a supplier of specialist battery packs, industrial computer hardware and rugged notebooks for use in demanding, mission-critical places.
