Course details
The MSc in Countering Organised Crime and Terrorism seeks to equip students and professionals with the knowledge to understand, analyse, prevent and disrupt organised crime and terrorism. The course is delivered by practitioners and researchers working in counter-terrorism, intelligence, law enforcement, risk assessment and security technology. Taught in central London, this integrated programme can be taken full time (one year) or part-time (normally over two or three years, but can be extended to five).
The MSc in Crime Science, established since 2001, provides students with an understanding of how science and scientifically based techniques can deliver reductions in crime. The programme focuses on how to apply science better to understand crime problems, and develop strategies for reducing such problems by a) stopping them from happening in the first place and b) increasing the probability of detecting and arresting offenders.
These courses are open to graduates (or those about to graduate) from all disciplines, and are say UCL suited to practitioners from a field of law enforcement, defence, military, public policy, and industrial security backgrounds. Applicants with no degree will be considered on the basis of five years’ relevant professional experience.
