CESG certified scheme

by Mark Rowe

APM Group is working with CESG, the Information Security arm of the Government intelligence agency GCHQ, to deliver its new cyber security training certification scheme. The CESG Certified Training (CCT) scheme is designed to recognise and assure cyber security training.

The CCT scheme certifies training courses and trainers who deliver courses in cyber security disciplines based on the IISP Skills Framework. This includes training which would be suitable for those aspiring to certification under the CESG Certified Professional (CCP) scheme. The criteria for CCT are aligned with the standards GCHQ uses to assess the ‘Master’s degrees in General Cyber Security’.

Chris Ensor, Deputy Director, National Technical Authority for Information Assurance, GCHQ, said: ’’Under the National Cyber Security Programme, the Government is committed to improving the nation’s cyber security skills. Developing the cadre of professional cyber security experts is central to achieving this goal. The CESG Certified Training scheme will enable cyber security specialists to identify training courses that meet their needs and have been independently assessed for content and quality.”

And Richard Pharro, APM Group’s CEO, added: “The importance of cyber security in today’s economy cannot be over stated, and cyber attacks are arguably one of the biggest challenges we face. It’s therefore vital those individuals that stand at the front line of our cyber defences possess the skills to meet real-world challenges. CCT has been developed to help individuals and businesses alike to identify which training courses are most relevant to their current requirements as part of a comprehensive learning pathway for the cyber security profession as a whole. It provides cyber security professionals with the opportunity to gain appropriate knowledge and skills through training that is consistent with the high standards set by Government. It also helps employers of cyber security professionals make more informed choices when selecting staff and training, ensuring they employ the best qualified people for the job,” he continued.
