Virtual training tool

by Mark Rowe

VSTEP and Mission Room Limited in the UK have a partnership for delivery of 360 degree RescueSim simulator rooms for what the companies call immersive virtual incident response training.

In 2010, VSTEP and Mission Room Ltd were introduce a 360 degree Virtual Incident Response Training Mission Room at the Emergency Services Show in the UK. The room integrates the RescueSim Virtual Incident Response Simulator, to recreate the tension that they experience during an incident, for Fire & Rescue personnel during training.

The renewal of the official partnership reaffirms the relationship between Mission Room Ltd and VSTEP to provide delivery, maintenance and support of their RescueSim Mission Rooms to Fire & Rescue services and UK customers.

RescueSim is a virtual training tool for emergency responders and Fire and Rescue services. It allows emergency crews to virtually train and experience incidents as they would in real-life. They assess the situation and determine the best response strategy, implement it and then observe the consequences of their decisions. The RescueSim virtual incident training platform is used in 20 countries the firms add as an effective and safe enhancement of training.

With imagery and sound, participants become immersed in the incidents simulated and feel as if actually at the incident scene, according to the firms. For more info about RescueSim, visit www.rescuesim.com
