Connected car risk

Connected vehicles are big business, with revenue streams predicted to grow to €40bn by 20181, according to a recent AlixPartners study.

In addition to newer embedded systems, the market for inexpensive plug-in devices that supply internet connectivity for older vehicles is rapidly growing. Many of these solutions offer fleet management and telematics, as well as broader consumer focused applications. The accelerating popularity of these devices provides some of the functionality of embedded systems but also introduces significantly higher cybersecurity risks.
