Kingdom at IKEA Norwich

by Mark Rowe

Static guarding at the building site that will be the new IKEA store in Norwich is by Kingdom. The contractor, an ACS Pacesetter company, will be providing retail guarding once the store is complete. Kingdom provides retail security to all 18 of IKEA’s UK stores (including Belfast), and two distribution centres. Kingdom first started providing security to IKEA in the UK in 2010 alongside three other security companies, and last year was announced as the sole security provider to IKEA in the UK.

Kingdom says that it provides IKEA with a unique security service, tailored to match the IKEA environment and work ethos, and includes manned guarding teams, mobile patrol, key holding, customer service and reception teams as well as loss prevention and return on investment analysis.

About IKEA’s new store

Norwich will be the first new IKEA store to open in the UK for six years. Due to open later in 2015 at Sweet Briar Retail Park off the outer ring road in Norwich, the store will be the first of three new IKEA Order and Collection Points and has been described as experimental.

The new style stores will be much smaller that IKEA’s usual warehouses – the Norwich store will be just 19,000 square feet, around one tenth of the size of IKEA’s stores in other parts of the country. These Order and Collection Points are being created with the aim to make shopping with IKEA easier and more convenient and accessible, connecting the experiences customers can currently have with IKEA in-store and online, allowing customers to shop whenever, wherever and however they want.
