Kantech, part of the Security Products business unit of Tyco, has introduced the ioPass SA-550 Stand Alone Door Controller. The makers say it’s for use in convenience stores, storage rooms or parking lots. The reader and controller are together in a software free-product.

It’s designed as a self-contained, stand-alone unit. Rafael Schrijvers, product marketing manager, EMEA, Tyco Security Products, said: “As a basic, stand-alone solution, the ioPass SA-550 is convenient and easy-to-use. The combined reader/controller design makes it an affordable choice considering both installation and equipment costs.”

The product offers an integrated 26-bit Wiegand ioProx proximity card reader that can store up to 1,000 users. A unit is programmed directly from the keypad, with all commands displayed on a 16-character, two-line LCD. The product supports up to eight door configurations, with options such as door access schedules and unlock schedules. The configuration data is transferrable to other SA-550 door controllers via a USB key.

Other features door controller include an audit trail for the last 3,500 transactions with a time stamp, a six-language selectable user interface, the ability to program 24 recurring holidays and 24 non-recurring holidays per controller, and four door access schedules and one door unlock schedule per controller.
