barox at Consec

by Mark Rowe

barox Kommunikation AG, the manufacturer of switches, media converters and IP extenders designed for video applications, is among the exhibitors at the Association of Security Consultants’ annual show, CONSEC, on Thursday, October 13, at Twickenham Stadium in west London, pictured.

The firm will be showing their managed and unmanaged industrial switches that cater for demands of video and PoE heavy applications, and feature cyber security functions that protect the switch and network traffic, the product company says. Featuring management options, when using Ethernet switches, network requirements can be met. Managed switch capabilities include active camera and PoE monitoring, and active integration via switch modules for integration to VMS control. barox will unveil their RY-LPITE-422XGME 10Gbits DIN Rail, L2+ managed GbE PoE+ switch. This switch offers L2 and basic L3 features, with management features via its embedded barox Device Managed System (DMS).

For network engineers, the RY-LPITE-442XGME features 4×10/100/1000TX PoE+, 4×10/100/1000TX PoE++ ports (802.3at/af/bt and total up to 381W), 2 x10GbE SFP+ ports and an RJ45 console port, to deliver in industrial applications.

As for integration with third party video management software, barox supports systems integration with their Smart-barox plugins, for Milestone, MOBOTIX and advancis. Integration delivers diagnostic data, showing the status of cameras and switches, and allowing the pinpointing of network/device issues. For example, if a network camera fails to respond, barox switches can be used to select a device and send a re-boot command.

barox integrated Device Management System (DMS) features network monitoring functions, which allow the visualisation and analysis of hardware and connectivity. Enabling faults and outages to be diagnosed remotely, barox tools include PoE monitoring, cable diagnostics and remote switch traffic monitoring, where per port live data traffic is shown on a graphical chart, allowing the video network and all connected cameras to be analysed.

Sarah Moss, barox Sales Manager UK and Ireland says: “We’re looking forward to meeting CONSEC delegates who would like to learn more about industrial managed and unmanaged Ethernet switches that support more simple, quicker and lower-cost installations, along with robust PoE power. With the demand for increasingly more powerful PoE devices, such as dome and all-in-one PTZ cameras, the barox range supports 802.3bt, with PoE power up to 90W. In addition, for peace-of-mind, all barox Ethernet switches are designed to meet the specific operational and performance demands of CCTV surveillance, employing innovations that guarantee greater customer security, and for the installer, easy set-up and integration into leading VMS control software.”
