Peru public space system

by Mark Rowe

A case study of public space CCTV in Ventanilla in Lima, Peru, where Dahua Technology products were provided by a local distributor Best Security del Perú.

Covering a total land area of 73.52 km², Ventanilla is the largest district of province Callao and has a population of 500,000. Ventanilla faces problems such as traffic jams and crime, so the municipal government ran a ‘safe city project’ with all-around surveillance. Ventanilla is a mountainous seaside city, which means installation and cabling would be a challenge. Dahua dispatched a team to Peru to provide first-hand support in time. Taking topography and budget into consideration, Dahua and Best Security del Perú came up with a wireless solution. All the data can be transmitted to the centre via access points, avoiding installation complexity and saving spending on labour and cable at the same time.

In use are network speed domes, NVRs, transmission devices, video-wall and control keyboard. A hundred units of Dahua IR speed domes are installed across the city, covering streets and corners; and its IR distance is up to 80m, even under unfavourable lighting it is claimed.

Meanwhile, 128-channel super NVRs and 16-channel NVRs are used as storage devices to manage the data. The network recorder has 384Mbps incoming bandwidth capability, rendering a smooth HD real-time preview and recording; and the NVR supports RAID5, for data safety and system stability.

The wireless video transmission includes access points, feeders, PoE, antennas and power cables, allowing a 3.0km to 5.0km long-distance fast transmission with a wide angle, to further expand coverage. A Dahua 3 x 3 46-inch video wall installed in control room, with a video-wall controller gives central management, which can better optimise the manpower and police operations.

Christian E Buleje Pun, Manager of Information and Telecommunication Technology at Municipal of Ventanilla, said: “Generally, Dahua products performs well and the system operates stably for the whole project. We appreciate the reliable quality, smooth running, low costs and advanced service of Dahua. Surely, we will continue select Dahua as our future cooperative brand for security projects in the future. If Dahua can provide longer warranty, that will be perfect. ”

“It was always a pleasure to work with Dahua Technology,” said Manuel Nolazco N., Gerente Técnico Comercial at Best Security del Perú. “They’ve done a lot of safe city cases around the world, which is very helpful and supportive during the implantation, and we are looking forward to cooperate more on safe city projects with Dahua in Peru.”
