The video surveillance product manufacturer IDIS has launched IDIS Smart Privacy Masks. This patented, real-time privacy masking eliminates the challenges associated with conventional masking techniques, the South Korean firm says; such as the inability to detect people and a failure to apply masking and zone settings that can blur entire areas, making it hard to tell apart people from objects. Other common issues, such as latency, has potential for privacy breaches or over-masking.
IDIS says its solution maintains high video resolution and frame rates even when dealing with dynamic, busy settings and high-resolution streams. The firm uses its in-house developed and trained IDIS Deep Learning Engine. It adjusts mosaic strength to ensure video streams deliver the best clarity and visibility while protecting privacy. This calibrated masking makes distinguishing people’s actions and movements easier in real time while protecting identities, according to the company. The product combines object detection and heatmaps with deep learning and the company’s video management software IDIS Solutions Suite (ISS). Because IDIS Smart Privacy Masking takes place on ISS, it is the developers say resource-efficient. As a module within IDIS Solution Suite, IDIS Smart Privacy Masks adds to the tools.
