The facilities management (FM) contract firm Mitie has a two-year extension to its contract with Birmingham Airport, which welcomed its record 13.6 million passengers last year. The contract covers a range of security services across the airport footprint. An extra 60 security officers join the contractor, which will also provide security for construction, as work on the airport’s terminal continues. The extension includes deployment of four new security vehicles.
The FM firm points to continuing support for the airport’s chosen charity, Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Mitie staff have already raised more than £38,000 for the charity through sponsored events including the airport’s “Race the Plane” challenge, cycling over 4,800 miles in just over ten hours to beat a plane flying to Cancun.
