RSC deal

by Mark Rowe

The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), based in Stratford upon Avon has extended their relationship for another three years with the Facilities Management (FM) contractor Incentive FM, taking the FM’s work with the RSC to nine years.

Incentive FM’s Destination & Heritage sector will continue to be responsible for providing a range of services including cleaning and security to the client, including actors and audiences who frequent the RSC. The contractor says that the covid pandemic presented an opportunity for Incentive FM and the RSC to work together and create, construct and manage an outdoor theatre that enabled the works of Shakespeare to continue to be shared.

The wider estate outside of the main theatres includes several heritage buildings that have their own characteristics. The FM contractor is also integral to the safe delivery of the performances, whilst ensuring that security protocols are sympathetically managed as audiences arrive and leave the theatres, they are also responsible for Fire Officer duties during some of the performances that involve pyrotechnics.

Claire Rumsey, Director, Incentive FM, said: “The team have such a connection with this contract and the importance of their role in delivering the clients vision that ‘Shakespeare should be accessible to all’. It’s a vital part of their community and they’re proud to be a part of the team, it really shines through.”

And Chris O’Brien, Director of Estates & IT at the RSC, said: “Incentive FM continue to drive improvements within the delivery of services across the Estate and we are very happy to have renewed our contract to further strengthen our already successful partnership.”
