Waitrose traffic marshalling

by Mark Rowe

Waitrose has again chosen Topher Ltd to provide traffic marshalling services at the opening of two new supermarkets, in High Wycombe and Uttoxeter.

Topher has previously worked with the retailer on branch openings in Oxford, Guildford, Horsham and Basingstoke. Topher has also provided traffic marshalling to Waitrose during the Christmas peak shopping.

The contract security firm says that it has tailored its car marshalling service to the needs of the sector, introducing several ancillary services that are key to improving overall customer experiences. These include assisting customers with returning their trolleys, picking litter, augmenting store security and providing customer service and information.

Thes marshals are also authorised, through the Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS), to manage and direct vehicles on the public highway, allowing the company to offer what it calls a complete traffic management solution that doesn’t end at the site boundary.

Kate Norris, at Waitrose says: “Topher support the smooth operation of our car parks during a busy first weekend of trade or during other peak times. Our customers appreciate the professional, smart and high-quality service that the marshals provide.”

And Chris Haywood, managing director of Topher Ltd., says: “The opening of a new Waitrose store is always a very popular event, so our primary task is managing the arrival and departure of customers’ vehicles as smoothly as possible. Our marshals are also committed to their role as first customer touchpoint, and always strive to reflect Waitrose’s own dedication to total customer satisfaction.”
